Rain Gutter Bookshelves
How cool is this rain gutter book shelf? Yes I did say rain gutter. What a great idea, and a wondeful way to display children's books so they can see the covers. I found this idea on Kimberley's blog Raising Olives. She has a how to write up along with pictures for visual learners like me :) I can't wait to do this project sometime!

The Cutest Little Popsicle Stick Trees
How cute are these little popsicle stick trees? I found them while browsing Michaels handmade holidays gallery. It turns out they are the project winner for this weeks contest. I might have to make me some of these. It's also a great craft for an older child to do on their own as well. Here is the link to the directions and supply list if you want to make up some of these cuties. Happy Christmas Craftin'!

Attention Canadian Mommies
flyerland.ca provides residents of Canada instant access to all of their favourite flyers and coupons online, anywhere at anytime. I often print my Michaels coupons here instead of waiting for their email or flyers to come in the mail. I'm not sure if the USA has something like this. I'm sure they do for the different states.

ToW mATer cAKe
So this past weekend my father in law celebrated his birthday and I wanted to surprise him with a cool birthday cake.
Since he had been in the towing business for years and owned his own towing company I thought I would make him the very popular Tow Mater. I had a lot of fun doing this cake and it was a lot less time consuming than making a fondant cake.
I ended up using two small square pans and then just carved them to look like a tow truck. I used Fugee-O's for the wheels, smarties for the lights, Oreo sippers for the hoist, a Reece cup for the air filter and little Reece peanut butter bars for the front grill and bumper. Oh and I can't forget Chicklets for Mater's teeth.
My father in law loved the cake so it was a success. Next is my husbands birthday....I'll have to get thinking of something that will top a DQ ice cream cake

Here is Ashtyn's Cake SMAsH! I get giddy just looking at these pictures....The beautiful pictures are taken by Carol-Ann. http://www.carol-annphotography.com/
This is tough work, I think I'll put my feet up!!!
Ashtyn's legs were stained pink for two days, but I think both her and I agree it was well worth it

There's a Monster in my bed!!
I made this cute little tag monster for Ashtyn to cuddle and chew on. (She loves tags). It was super easy and fun to do, and best of all each monster that is made is unique and non toxic. The supplies I used were polar fleece, ribbon, felt and embroidery floss for the eyes and mouth, fiber fill, and a sewing machine. This little monster is small enough you could hand stitch him in no time. To make him squeaky you can purchase a plastic sqeaker at any pet store.

Cupcake pops
For Ashtyn's birthday I made these cute little cupcake marshmallow pops. They were super easy and delicious. A win win for everyone. I got the idea from Kim on her blog tomkatstudio.blogspot.com. I used coconut marshmallows dipped in melted chocolate and topped with a pink M & M. To hold them up I used dry floral foam covered in gift wrap. Michaels sells coloured melting chocolate in an array of colours if you want something more bright.

ASHTYN'S FIRST BIRTHDAY
After months of planning, the event we had been waiting for the whole year had finally arrived. Our little Bean's 1st Birthday. Of course being the cRaFty mommy I am, I immediately got down to business to perfect every little detail of the day. In a blink of an eye the day was done and the memories were made. Can you believe I'm already thinking of next years theme? Lets get through Christmas first.

Ashtyn's Marshmallow Fondant Cake. I made the top tier as her smash cake. She loved it. SuGaR overload I'm sure on her little body but worth seeing her smile.
Guess the Jelly Belly's. The adults got in on it too and the closest guess won a bottle of Carolans!
I wanted something unique for our guests to sign so I decided to make Ashtyn an ABC'S of YOU book on shutterfly.com. It turned out really neat and the guests enjoyed flipping through it. Once again shutterfly comes out on top.
ALL ABOUT ME
Hey everyone, I'm Crafty Chic Mommy...
Welcome to my Blog.
So a bit about myself....I'm a stay at home mommy to the cutest little girl in the whole wide world. Ok I'm biased I know, but to me she is just that. I feel so blessed to be given the opportunity to stay at home with my daughter and I'm in awe of her each and everyday as she grows and develops right before my very eyes.
Welcome to my Blog.
I have a wonderful husband who after ten years together still gives me butterflies in my stomach.
Now that is love.
Now that is love.
I can't forget my darling little Boston Terrier, Derby. I begged and pleaded to get a dog for over five years and it was well worth the wait since I ended up with the pefect canine pal.
Here he is ready for his close up!
So what inspired me to take up blogging?
Well, when my daughter is napping I find myself either crafting or searching (with a latte in hand) through craft blogs to inspire my next big craft project.

I then got to thinking I need a blog of my own to show others and hopefully inspire them to create wonderful crafts of their own just like other craft blogs have inspired me. I feel knowledge is power but is much more powerful when it is shared.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy creating it.
